INVOLVEMENT is the key in getting a return on your chamber membership dollars. There are more than 30 committees operating under the chamber umbrella. With your participation, not only are you contributing in an area that has an impact on how business is done on the Peninsula, but also the contacts you make just may make an impact on your business. Listed are the current chamber committees.

BAH & BBH

Business After Hours/Business Before Hours Committee
Responsible for the planning of the Chamber's monthly Business After Hours and "Business Before Hours. Includes coordination of locations, sponsors, setting up for the event. Meets on an "as needed" basis.

LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE (L.I. ALUMNI ONLY)

Board of Regents
Sets policies, procedures and oversees the Leadership Institute of the Virginia Peninsula. Membership is by appointment only. Meets on an "as-needed" basis.

Marketing Committee
Handles all marketing matters related to Leadership Institute. Non-Leadership graduate membership is limited. Meets on an "as-needed" basis.

Admission & Scholarship Committee
Handles selection of Leadership Class membership. Limited to Leadership graduates. Meet "as-needed."

Curriculum Committee
Establishes Leadership Institute curriculum. Non-Leadership graduate membership is limited. Meets on an "as-needed" basis July-November.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Lobbying and monitoring arm of the Chamber with specific focus on state regulatory issues.

MARKETING & MEMBERSHIP

Oversees the public relations and marketing for the Chamber and all aspects of Chamber membership development.

Ambassadors
Provide necessary service of cultivating goodwill and informing other Chamber members about Chamber programs; Ambassadors obtain input from members regarding Chamber services, program development, and membership needs. Primary purpose is to increase member involvement, communicate the Chamber message to members and ultimately increase membership retention. Meets the second Thursday of each month except December. Peninsula Business Network
This group meets every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. to trade business referrals and information. No overlap of business classifications. Peninsula Referral Connection
This group meets twice a month to trade business referrals. No overlap of business classifications. Professional Connections
This group meets twice each month to network and trade referrals. No overlap of business classifications. MILITARY AFFAIRS COUNCIL (MAC)

Responsible for increasing cooperation between the business and military communities. Membership in MAC is a requirement to serve on any of the following committees:

Public Relations/Special Event Commmittee
Responsible for MAC membership campaign, tours of installations, special speakers, publicizing all MAC events and acting as a liaison to all installation PAOs and civilian mixers, Meeting with the Mayors, receptions and other events as scheduled.

Holiday Rooms Committee
Coordinates the donation and assignment of rooms given by local area hotels and motels to be used by E-5 and below personnel during the holidays. Meets as needed.

Job Fair
Organizes two annual employment fairs, one in April and one in October. Meets on a monthly basis.

SPECIAL EVENTS

SeaFest Showcase Committee
Responsible for the organization of this Chamber's annual tradeshow festival. Includes obtaining sponsors, vendors, food, ticket sales, and setting up the location site. Meets monthly January to September.
